Natural Methods of Change and Transformation

Natural Methods of Transformation underlies all of Chandra Williams' work. This concept focuses on achieving social justice by healing society through natural change. Societal forces - from the electricity in our homes to the political structures we employ - are powered by broader natural forces, such as electricity in the atmosphere and the participation of human beings.  Access to our innate power as humans cannot be obstructed or denied.  Though we are often engrossed in the slow (and sometimes futile) processes of change as outlined by our institutions, every human and community has access to the natural power to transform!

Natural Methods of Transformation is an inquiry into the nature of

human transformation for the individual and society.

Teen Initiation

Rites of Passage have been a part of the successful transition of teens into adulthood throughout human history. This practice is much less common in the United States than in indigenous communities. The Native Americans as well as many others practice Rites of Passage as individuals progress in life.

This program brings to teens, juvenile justice systems, alternative schools and the like, the elements of teen initiation and rites of passage. It answers the needs of teens transitioning into adulthoods and assists in understanding healthy ideas of adulthood and avoiding misconceptions of manhood and womanhood. It is effective at reducing recidivism and  providing alternatives to gang participation.  This is a natural method of healing and transformation.

Thinking Outside the Trap

This project facilitates the use of rap music to popularize new and healthy ways of being. We explore the power and history of rap, all the way back to the practice of rhythmic rhyming in Africa!  We understand rap as a powerful teaching tool with the ability to reach the masses, to make anything cool and to impact all generations in such a way as to create cultural identity and to create reality!!

Participants learn how to compose raps and record over electronic beats. Communities are invited to enlist local artists to create raps which reflect the community' vision for itself!!

Personal Purpose

Imagine a world in which children are asked what their personal purpose is, instead of what "job" they want to have as adults?

This program explores methods of getting in touch with personal purpose and the genius that lives within each person!  It works with the assumption that every human being enters into this life with a unique gift that no one else can bring, and which answers a need for all others and themselves!!

What is your Purpose!?
